I have three decades of well-diversified experience, half of which was spent in the financial services industry and the balance in the non-profit sector. Within financial services, I have been responsible for the setup of the Wealth Management business across large banks like Standard Chartered, BNP, DBS, and have also co-founded a PE firm and a boutique Investment Bank where I handled capital-raising and organization-building for start-ups. My last stint in the sector was at UBS, the world’s largest wealth manager, where my assignment was to set up, build and manage the Wealth Management business in India.
During my full-time stint in the non-profit sector (before I started working independently), I worked in a large public health organization, PSI, where I was part of the core team responsible for the implementation of a USAID-funded country-wide program for AIDS prevention. I also set up what was possibly the country’s first social venture capital fund, Impact Partners, (now Dasra), where I worked closely with several social entrepreneurs to help build sustainable organizations. Both these roles had a mix of strategic planning, program implementation, impact assessment and donor/stakeholder management.
As an independent strategy consultant for the last fifteen years, I am leveraging my skills and multi-faceted experience towards doing deep strategic consulting work across a diverse set of organizations – funders (Gates Foundation, Ford Foundation, HUL Foundation, UN Foundation), intermediaries (Bridgespan, India Climate Collaborative, AVPN, Ashoka -CSIP), and non-profits (Pratham, Aangan, Girl Effect, FES, Breakthrough, C3). (Supported FES, Breakthrough, C3, and presently Mobile Creches’ on their Co-Impact Design Grants)
I prefer to work as a consultant for organizations and usually work on projects where companies need specific sectoral skills or are constrained on bandwidth, and I can also be an additional senior resource for a specific period. I have worked extensively on strategic as well as operational projects across Health, Agriculture, Sanitation, Water, Education, Nutrition, Livelihoods, Gender, Climate Change and Financial Inclusion.
